History
Foundation and early reputation
The Longevity Dao Lord founded the sect after obtaining a shattered Heavenly Immortal Orthodox Lineage more than two thousand years before Chen Dengming’s selection as Longevity Seed. Seventeen Longevity Seeds had been selected during the following thousand years, but surviving Nascent Soul successors remained few 189.
The sect became known for avoiding worldly disputes and cultivating longevity. Its territory enjoyed approximately a century of peace, leaving many disciples—and even their parents—with no firsthand experience of war 81 94.
Chen Dengming’s entry
Chen Dengming initially saw the sect as an ideal destination because its methods extended lifespan. Concerned that strict background investigations would expose his secrets, he instead joined the closely affiliated Evergreen Sect as a stepping stone 81 85 89.
Before his formal admission, the Second Ancestor protected him from Han Yongxu and granted him exceptional treatment as a prospective Longevity Seed. Chen Dengming and He Yingyu later completed their entry assessment, earned substantial merits, and established themselves within the main sect 125 146 151.
Chen Dengming won the subsequent Longevity Seed selection after demonstrating exceptional lifespan and spiritual-root potential and passing the Orthodox Lineage test. He then moved to a cave mansion on Changle Peak 189 191.
War and the overseas migration
Despite its peaceful reputation, the sect mobilized affiliated forces for the northeastern conflict and later assigned False Core cultivators to missions in the Eastern–Western Regions war. Internal disagreements between war and conservative factions influenced its mission choices 90 155 172.
As the Nascent Soul Treaty ceased to provide protection, the Ancestors tasked Chen Dengming with finding a new mountain gate outside the Four Regions. He investigated previously recorded Blessed Lands and explored a secret passage through the Fallen Forbidden Zone 222 223 224 228.
The sect began a mass evacuation through the forbidden zone. During the assault on its original mountain gate, the founder activated a contingency plan: Longevity, Evergreen, and Longing Peaks rose from the ground, shrank, and entered the sacred ginkgo tree’s hollow, preserving disciples and the Orthodox Lineage 234 238.
Establishment on Longevity Island
The refugees initially endured rejection from Eastern Immortal Sea sects and temporarily camped on an island without Spirit Veins. Chen Dengming helped secure a new Blessed Land, while disciples constructed floating islands and the new administrative center, Perilous Peak 239 241 252 274.
Recognition through the Immortal Sea Tablet allowed the sect to trade and expand on terms comparable to native Eastern Immortal Sea forces. It became the leading force of the Four Regions Overseas Fellow Villagers Alliance, gathering more than forty thousand cultivators around Longevity Island and nearby islands 253 257.
Xing Huiguang eventually passed the Longevity Jade Seal and leadership to Chen Dengming. His formal installation set the sect’s record for the fastest transition from Dao Child to Sect Leader 274 275.
Return and reconstruction
The sect earned enough counterattack merit to reclaim its original mountain gate and obtain additional territory. Its founder’s victories and Chen Dengming’s Nascent Soul combat record substantially changed its public image 319 321.
After another devastating assault, Chen Dengming supervised repairs to the Mountain Protecting Formation and reconstruction of the mountain gate. The sect’s resilience and willingness to cover its disciples’ retreat earned widespread respect 345 346 351.
Three years after the war, nearly forty thousand disciples lived at the rebuilt sect. More than a hundred thousand rogue cultivators, together with a small number of mortals, populated the prosperous marketplace district beneath the Thirteen Peaks 370.
Later leadership and security
He Yingyu narrowly won the next Longevity Seed selection, prevailing in the combat assessment despite Tan Siyan winning the voting segment. She later became Sect Leader and earned recognition for her governance rather than merely her relationship with Chen Dengming 371 427.
Lu Xiucheng’s death endangered the sect’s standing, but Chen Dengming’s return as a Spirit Transmutation Dao Lord restored its deterrence. His defeat of Mingguang Shangren forced the Bright Light Sect to withdraw from its Four Regions proselytizing territory 423 426 427.
Su Yan Yan subsequently reached Spirit Transmutation. Later, Chen Dengming entrusted her with organizing another full migration as a precaution against the approaching great tribulation 443 462.
Doctrine and Cultivation
Pursuit of longevity
- Avoid unnecessary conflict: Members are taught to cherish their hard-earned lifespan; living longer creates more opportunities for advancement 106.
- Preparation before crisis: The sect accumulated secret records of overseas Blessed Lands over a thousand years, providing multiple possible retreat destinations 224 225.
- Protection of weaker members: Its interpretation of the natural Heavenly Dao emphasizes guarding those unable to protect themselves and supporting their growth 189.
- Selective restraint: It declined to pursue conflict with the Sha Star once it understood that the enemy primarily sought revenge against other sects 106.
- Resistance when necessary: Its reputation for avoiding battle did not prevent organized retaliation against threats from the Mochao Kingdom and Northern Yin Holy Mother 214.
Longevity Merit
The sect’s foundational cultivation method extends lifespan and provides a cultivation route through Spirit Transmutation 94 194.
- The Golden Core curriculum comprises four chapters covering Early, Middle, Late, and Perfect stages. Chen Dengming exchanged 20,000 contribution points for the complete set 194.
- Access is guarded closely. Outsiders joining at Golden Core cannot necessarily learn it immediately and may face contribution requirements or restrictive agreements 151.
- Its mild Spiritual Essence is comparatively less effective in combat than the aggressive methods of other major sects 106.
- At Nascent Soul, the sect’s ultimate technique provides powerful protection through a Yuan Magnetic barrier associated with thirty-six thousand bodily pores 344.
Reported lifespan advantages
These are estimates discussed for ordinary practitioners, not Chen Dengming’s exceptional lifespan totals.
| Realm | Ordinary Cultivator | Longevity Sect Practitioner |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation Establishment | Approximately 200 years | Early descriptions suggest 230 years; later discussions give approximately 250–270 years 81 106 158. |
| Golden Core | Approximately 800 years | Commonly 1,000 years, with some reaching approximately 1,100 106. |
| Nascent Soul | Approximately 2,000 years | Approximately 2,500 years is considered plausible 106. |
Heavenly Immortal Orthodox Lineage
- Three paths: The lineage encompasses Fortune, Longevity, and Life; Fortune is described as the most difficult to comprehend 316.
- Time-related power: The lineage land rapidly drains visitors’ lifespan, making entry dangerous even when the effect goes unnoticed 189.
- Inheritance halls: The founder controls three Heavenly Immortal Halls. Chen Dengming receives further inheritance in the Heavenly Longevity Hall and enlightenment in the Heavenly Fortune Hall 312 316.
- Heavenly Timing: Allocated inheritance resources differ by rank; a Sect Leader receives more than a Dao Child 275.
- Foundation of its standing: The Dao Lineage Mustard Seed Realm and its halls are central to the sect’s status as a top-tier force, making their preservation more important than merely acquiring a replacement Blessed Land 224.

Recruitment and duties
- Admission involves scrutiny of background, temperament, and past conduct 85.
- Cultivators from affiliated sects can transfer into the main sect, but Foundation Establishment alone does not guarantee acceptance 87 142.
- Entry assessments primarily test state of mind and are generally described as formalities, although Chen Dengming’s assessment develops into a dangerous combat mission 142 146 151.
- Disciples receive cave mansions, cultivation resources, monthly distributions, and protection in exchange for service when required 155.
- Evergreen and Longevity contribution points circulate at a one-to-one exchange rate 151.
- Later recruitment channels direct superior-quality candidates to the main sect and moderate-quality candidates to branch sects or affiliated families 374.
Longevity Seed selection
Selection combines reputation, voting, potential, combat ability, and compatibility with the Orthodox Lineage 142 183 188 189 371.
- Candidate benefits: Five years without duty assignments, doubled monthly Spirit Crystals and pills, a 20% redemption discount, and a temporary Longevity Token 183.
- Potential testing: Su Yan Yan uses the Seven-Colored Bright Mirror Destiny Technique; blue lifespan potential is the stated qualifying standard 188.
- Chen Dengming’s selection: His deep-purple lifespan potential and peak-indigo spiritual-root potential precede his successful lineage test 189.
- He Yingyu’s selection: She wins through the combat and strength assessment after narrowly losing the voting segment to Tan Siyan 371.
Succession
- The succession rule is described as requiring a Sect Leader who reaches Nascent Soul to step down for the Dao Child. Without a selected Dao Child, an Elder Assembly chooses a suitable elder 304.
- Before Chen Dengming, Jiang Jian held the fastest Dao Child-to-Sect Leader record at forty-two years 275.
- Wartime losses repeatedly interrupt the development of successors, leaving the sect vulnerable to generational gaps 304.
