Yue Country, Lanzhou.
Guanggui City.
This city lay at the southernmost edge of Lanzhou. It was not large, with only several hundred thousand residents—merely one-fifth the size of Jiayuan City, the largest city.
Tainan Mountain lay not far west of Guanggui City. The entire mountain stood over three thousand meters tall and was shrouded in mountain mist year-round, making it Lanzhou's fourth-highest peak.
In a forest at the foot of the mountain, someone sat cross-legged beneath a lush, towering tree. Both hands held a red-glowing object, which he pressed against his dantian and rolled back and forth.
Suddenly, his body trembled. He gave a muffled grunt, and the red glow in his hands dimmed sharply, revealing its true form.
It was a fine piece of azure jade.
The man revealed his face. It was Han Li.
He had already gone to Jiayuan City, gone through considerable trouble to deal with several major enemies of the Mo Family, and successfully traded for the Warm Sun Treasure Jade, purging the cold poison from his body.
As for Qu Hun, he had left him in the hands of the leader of a small gang in Jiayuan City, to protect the Mo Family.
Now, it was because of Han Feng's earlier instructions that he had come to Tainan Mountain in search of the legendary fated opportunity of immortality.
On the northern side of Tainan Mountain was a slope rumored to be exceptionally mysterious. Thick white fog blanketed it all year round. Mortals who entered would lose their way, and no one dared set foot there lightly.
"Brother Feng told me there'll be a Rogue Cultivator gathering on this mountain soon... But with my current strength, will I suffer a loss if I attend it...?"
"I'd better wait until Brother Feng arrives."
Han Li put away the Warm Sun Treasure Jade and turned his gaze toward a large tree in the distance.
A yellow silk ribbon hung from its treetop.
This was the signal he and Han Feng had agreed upon.
Half a day later, a streak of white light silently cut across the distant sky and came to a noiseless stop above that massive tree.
This sudden development gave Han Li a fright. He sprang up from the ground at once, his entire body on guard.
He did not possess the ability to fly through the air!
But when he saw the newcomer's face clearly, his taut body immediately relaxed.
"Brother Feng!"
Han Li ran over, both shocked and delighted.
Han Feng leaped down from the White Cloud Boat, put away his magic artifact, and smiled as he patted Han Li's shoulder.
"Brother Li, I trust you've been well."
The two brothers briefly caught up. Several months had passed, yet Han Li's cultivation remained at the Eighth Level of Qi Refining.
The aptitude of a Pseudo Spiritual Root was simply too poor. Even though he frequently swallowed pills, after several months his Magic Power had still grown by a negligible amount.
"Brother Feng, this... is a flying magic artifact?" Han Li looked at Han Feng, his eyes full of envy.
"Mm. The White Cloud Boat. It wasn't expensive—I traded a six-hundred-year spirit medicine for it." Han Feng said it as lightly as though it were nothing.
Hearing this, Han Li secretly clicked his tongue in amazement, while firmly committing another of Han Feng's warnings to heart.
Thousand Year Spirit Medicine was an exceptionally precious treasure in the Immortal Cultivation World. It absolutely could not be shown to others casually.
"Let's go. The gathering should have already begun."
Han Feng called out, brought Han Li aboard the White Cloud Boat, and transformed into a streak of light as they flew straight toward the mountainside.
Before long, the two arrived before an illusory formation shrouded in dense fog.
With practiced ease, Han Feng produced a Sound Transmission Talisman. With a flick of his finger, the Talisman Paper turned into a flash of fire and flew into the mist.
A moment later, the dense fog before them suddenly churned violently. Then, as though cleaved apart by a blade, it split open to reveal a narrow path wide enough for the two to walk side by side.
The other end of the path could not be seen at a glance and seemed extremely far away.
The two entered side by side.
"Brother Li, how much do you know about the Immortal Cultivation World?" Han Feng asked as they walked.
"Very little," Han Li answered honestly.
"Then I'll give you a brief explanation."
"The realm we are currently in is called the Qi Refining Stage, and it is divided into thirteen levels. After Qi Refining come Foundation Establishment, Core Formation, Nascent Soul... Every major realm represents the difference between heaven and earth."
"And what determines one's cultivation speed is one's Spiritual Root."
Han Feng gave him a detailed explanation of Spiritual Roots in the Immortal Cultivation World—the five elements of Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—as well as the differences between Heavenly Spiritual Roots, Earthly Spiritual Roots, and Pseudo Spiritual Roots.
Han Li listened in great amazement, waves surging in his heart.
He just did not know what kind of Spiritual Root he possessed. Still, judging by his cultivation speed, it should be just a little worse than Brother Feng's.
Several hours later, Han Li's eyes suddenly lit up. A verdant valley filled with strange flowers and exotic plants appeared before him.
The valley was surrounded by mountains on three sides, with its only exit being the mist-shrouded slope through which they had entered.
The entire place was vast, covering well over a hundred mu. At its center stood a large cluster of palace-like pavilions with carved railings and jade inlays, where people dressed in strange and unusual clothing moved in and out.
Han Li looked around in curiosity. Everyone here was actually an immortal cultivator!
Han Feng had visited the large markets of two immortal cultivation sects, so this did not surprise him much.
"Brother Li, go look around on your own from here. Watch more, listen more, speak less, do less. Once you've seen enough, you'll naturally gain a rough understanding of the Immortal Cultivation World."
After saying that, Han Feng used the Breath Concealment Art, disguising his cultivation aura as that of the Tenth Level of Qi Refining.
Although the Southern Wasteland Gathering was merely an assembly of Rogue Cultivators, all manner of fish and dragons were mixed within it. Every so often, one could still unearth something good. There was no harm in being cautious.
"Alright."
Han Li nodded solemnly. Then he parted ways with Han Feng and began wandering through the Market alone.
