This tower was called the Heavenly Tower, and it truly lived up to its name.
It had long surpassed the limits of this world's mortal architecture—by an enormous margin. Even skyscrapers built from the reinforced concrete technology of the modern world could not hold a candle to its height. It could truly be called a tower that reached the heavens.
A tower like this was naturally freezing cold. It seemed to use no technology to maintain its temperature or oxygen levels, and its overall style was extremely gloomy. Whether corridors or rooms, it seemed that no consideration had been given to letting in light or installing lamps. An Yang took it as another one of Merlin's personal quirks.
The tower was extremely tall. Even though their landing point was already in the middle section of the Heavenly Tower, they still followed the spiral staircase for about an hour before finally reaching a reception room.
The crow stopped, turned around, lowered his head, and said to An Yang, "My lord, this is where I leave you. Lord Merlin is waiting for you inside. I hope you have a pleasant conversation... Oh, right. I know that according to the rules of human mystics, you'll give me some gifts as thanks. But you really don't need to do that here on the Meteorite Plain. We won't accept them."
"Oh, is that so?" An Yang studied the crow's expectant gaze as he waited where he stood. "But I think rules are ultimately dead things. Lord Ruo Ying went through so much trouble, and this sky-blue witch's eyeball isn't particularly valuable. Still, I think it looks quite nice, so I'll give it to Lord Ruo Ying as a keepsake!"
"Thank you, Lord Jesser. Since it's a keepsake, I suppose there's no harm in accepting it.
