The old monk breathed his last, and An Yang stopped using magic to keep him alive. He had already asked everything he needed to know.
Only then did An Yang realize he had wasted too much time here. If the old monk had sent word to the Eternal Life Demon Palace when An Yang gravely wounded him, then deliberately stalled for time while answering questions, An Yang could now be in serious trouble.

The grand hall sounded luxurious and imposing, but it was still made of stone, with wooden boards and tiles covering the roof. Inside stood several clay statues of gods and Buddhas, but there was no trace of incense.
An Yang gave the place a quick glance. The central statue was Tathagata Buddha; Dipankara Buddha and Maitreya Buddha stood on either side. Nearby were Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Taoist Three Pure Ones, and the Jade Emperor, who had been placed at the very edge. It looked as if Buddhism held the upper hand in Half Moon Hall.
What was more immediately apparent, though, was that these wicked demons lived in distinctly poor conditions.
An Yang didn't dare waste time. He quickly found the entrance leading beneath Hesheng Hall. It was covered by a magical restriction, but he had no time to check whether it had any backlash or protective measures. He smashed it open with a punch, put up his defenses, and carefully made his way down.
Though the old monk had seemed remarkably calm and accepting in his final moments, An Yang still didn't dare trust the demon. He feared it might have some trick up its sleeve, so he stayed especially cautious.
