An Shi Group's newly established arms company had set up its headquarters in a district on the outermost ring of Jinguan City, practically at the very edge of the city's urban area. The headquarters itself was outside the city, in a fairly remote location, and it took more than twenty kilometers to reach the nearest town. There had originally been several villages in the area, and even a rural elementary school, but after the major earthquake a few years ago, the population here had gradually dwindled.
The area had once been an industrial zone, including an automobile factory, a steel manufacturing plant, and several workshops producing various components. An Shi Group had now bought out the entire area, along with the large tracts of land surrounding it, and was in the process of demolishing and rebuilding everything.
According to plan, An Shi Military Industry would build a large complex of defense factories here, including production lines for standard weapons and research and production bases for cutting-edge technologies. There would also be a high-rise building rising conspicuously above the surrounding mountain villages, which would serve as the office building of the country's first truly private arms manufacturer.
For now, however, the tallest building here was the former automobile factory's office building. Since there had been little need for office space, it was only six stories tall, and was now the sole building that had not been demolished.
