Shane let out an exclamation that sounded somewhere between admiration and surprise.
Before this, his impression of Hal Jordan had been shaped by the DC animated movies he had watched in his previous life. He had always thought the man was inconsequential.
Picking on Green Lantern-those movie writers always loved doing that.
"He called me his friend, and he was willing to defy the entire Green Lantern Corps for me?"
Shane found it hard to believe, especially since he had barely interacted with Green Lantern on Earth.
"Strictly speaking, he only defied the Guardians of the Universe at first. Most of the Green Lanterns initially took a wait-and-see approach. Hal seemed pretty well liked among them."
Kyle was always particularly intent when he talked about Hal. He had not had much contact with Hal in his original universe.
Before becoming the last Green Lantern, he had only ever seen Hal Jordan on the news, flying high overhead.
After he became a Green Lantern, Ganthet, the only little blue survivor among the Guardians of the Universe, had constantly stressed how dangerous Hal had become as Parallax.
But during the incident where Hal stood up for Shane, Kyle had gradually come to appreciate his charisma.
"He put on five Green Lantern rings at once and became unbelievably powerful. Nobody could last a single exchange against him." "The memories of Hal as Parallax scrambled his thoughts. He called the Guardians of the Universe, whom most Green Lanterns deeply respected, trash, and threatened to drag them down from their lofty perches."
