A brand-new Mon-El, two beings merged into one, stepped out of the plane.
He was stronger than the Phantom King had been before. Even when Shane's heart finally beat a second time after a delay of more than ten seconds, he remained steady under the resulting tremor.

The other was hoarse, deathly still, and steeped in numbness.

"The corruption has already spread past the halfway point. He's beyond saving now. If we rush in, he'll tear us apart effortlessly once he loses control."
Fortunately, the one governing this body was still Mon-El, whose true self had yet to be extinguished.
Ignoring the Phantom King's attempts to stop him, he charged toward Shane a short distance away, his eyes filled with the resolve to stake everything on this attempt.
