The two childhood friends stood side by side once more and worked together to defeat the Phantom King.

In the letter, Superman put into words the friendship they had not yet fully expressed and promised to find a cure for Mon-El's lead poisoning in the outside world as soon as possible, then bring him out of the Phantom Zone.

Mon-El stroked the Wristband and carefully put the note away.

He stepped out of the makeshift recovery pod, emerged from the tent, and gazed at the still-endless Red Desert in the distance. For the first time, he felt full of hope for the future.
