The "New New 52" main universe.
San Francisco Bay, Teen Titans base.
Two weeks had passed since Shane brought Batman back from the Injustice League's world.
There had been none of the cheers and applause everyone had imagined, aside from a few welcoming hugs when they first stepped out of the portal.
Batman immediately took over the "pressure" that had nearly left Shane unable to breathe, and the very next day, he began searching for the three Green Lanterns who were likewise stranded elsewhere.
Of course, that might also have been because Shane had very obliquely hinted at the existence of the Dawn Phantom Lantern and the Dark Multiverse before leaving.
He did not know whether Batman had fully understood what he meant or simply felt that three powerful users of green light could not be left wandering out there for too long.
Otherwise, things could get dangerous.
That difference in perspective was not a failing on Batman's part. Even Shane himself was not entirely convinced that the Dawn Phantom Lantern bore full responsibility for the sweeping changes to the Injustice League's world.
He thought it might have originated from the Dark Multiverse infecting a normal universe, with the Dawn Phantom Lantern merely having stumbled into that place by chance.
He had become one of the first to accelerate the infection.
Of course, Shane was happy to have finally shed burdens that should never have been his to bear. So he had spent these two weeks in something close to a vacation mindset.
Along the way, with Rachel's help, he had familiarized himself with the many uses of mental power.
(No innuendo intended.)
A streak of pale golden lightning raced down a road that grew narrower as it went, reaching the security gate outside the Teen Titans base before sunset.
