The three Genin, who had just been played by Shikaku Nara, felt as though their entire worldview was on the verge of shattering, and Choji Akimichi suddenly asked a question.
"Dad, can you really let go of your hatred?"
His father was always muttering about his uncle, obviously still holding onto the grudge over his uncle's death.
"What else can I do if I don't let it go? Your dad is almost forty, and more than half my life has already passed, but your life is just beginning, and I have to consider your future."
Pulling a fry out of his son's bag of fries and shoving it into his mouth, Choi Akimichi's eyes filled with affection.
Resentment naturally existed, but compared to his love for his son, it could only take a backseat, not to mention that so many years had already passed; even the deepest wounds would eventually heal.
All that remained now was a dull, itchy ache whenever rainy days followed the healing process.
He was not a paranoid madman like the Uchiha, so there was no need, nor any possibility, of wallowing in hatred forever.
"What about the clansmen?"
Choji Akimichi continued to ask, as it was not just his father who held resentment; the clansmen felt it too, with many elders having died at the hands of the Four Village Alliance.
"Those who can't let it go can stay behind."
Choi Akimichi's reply was simple. While he was not known for his wisdom, he saw through many things very clearly.
"Oh!"
Choji Akimichi silently continued eating his fries, understanding his father's meaning.
"I heard Kumogakure finished its reforms and no longer has any ninja clans, nor does it allow them to exist. Once we go over there, our clan will probably be dissolved too."
