Four Konoha shinobi were slowly advancing, tracking some barely noticeable traces.
"Captain, how much longer are we going to track them?"
One of the team members could not help complaining. There were quite a few blood vessels in his eyes, clearly showing that he had not rested for a long time.
The other two were the same, utterly exhausted.
They had almost been due for a shift change, but their captain had made a discovery and brought them out to track it for a day and a night. Altogether, they had gone two days and two nights without rest, while remaining on constant high alert. Even shinobi could not endure that.
"Stay alert. They left very few traces, which proves they're experienced shinobi and very dangerous. Keep your signal flares ready. The moment you encounter danger, launch one immediately."
The Chunin captain reminded them solemnly. Although he was also exhausted, such an important lead could not be allowed to break.
If shinobi from an enemy village had infiltrated this area, it would be fatal to the entire Konoha frontline.
Seeing how grave the captain was, the three could only force themselves to stay alert.
The four continued advancing. The Chunin captain at the front was even more focused, constantly scanning his surroundings as he searched for traces and guarded against possible traps and ambushes.
However, the primary tracker was a powerful Ninja Dog. The Chunin captain was a shinobi of the Inuzuka Clan.
The Inuzuka Clan's shinobi were the best at tracking and patrol missions, so they were usually assigned to lead teams patrolling the front and rear of the Frontline, as well as this area in the deep rear.
"Whimper..."
"There's a smell of blood!"
The Ninja Dog ahead suddenly whimpered softly. The Chunin captain also twitched his nose
