Awakening and Forms

• Martial souls can be awakened at age six. Lu Chen's awakening produces the Asura Demon Sword, while a separate test measures his innate soul power 1.
• They take different forms, including weapon martial souls such as swords and hammers, and beast martial souls such as the Soft Bone Rabbit and Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon 8 213.
• Some are God Tier. Lu Chen's Asura Demon Sword is identified as one at awakening and later recognized as such by Bibi Dong 4 213.
• An awakened martial soul may carry an innate domain. The Asura Demon Sword manifests the Asura Domain immediately, though the domain is initially incomplete because Lu Chen lacks the strength to sustain its full power 1.

Soul Rings and Skills

• Soul rings attach to a martial soul and grant soul skills. Lu Chen gains his first ring from a Blood Fiend Demonic Tiger; its skill, Blood Fiend Power, doubles his strength amplification and the Asura Demon Sword's attack power 4.
• Ring quality varies. At the tournament final, several competitors display a configuration of two yellow, two purple, and one black ring, while Lu Chen displays two purple, three black, and one red 213.
• A seventh soul ring can grant a martial soul's True Body skill. Lu Chen's seventh skill manifests an Asura Dharma Image with six arms 240.
• The Exploding Ring technique releases a ring's power into an attack at considerable cost: the ring disappears for three days, and reuse within thirty-six days risks permanently shattering it 45.

Evolution and Fusion

• A suitable soul ring can help a martial soul break through its limits and evolve. Lu Chen attributes Yu Xiao Gang's failed martial soul mutation partly to his choice of incompatible early rings 192.
• Martial souls can evolve through other means: Dugu Bo's Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor becomes the Jade Phosphorous Corrosive Dragon Emperor after he takes Lu Chen's transformation pill 29.
• Compatible martial souls can produce a Martial Soul Fusion Skill. Lu Chen's Asura Demon Sword and Xiao Wu's Soft Bone Rabbit create Dual Soul Symbiosis, allowing them to use strengthened skills from both martial souls 89 90.
• A martial soul can undergo a second awakening. After Lu Chen defeats the Demon God, his Asura Demon Sword martial soul is reshaped by Asura Power into the Asura Light Sword 263.

Soul Spirits and Contracts

• The Spirit Contract Method offers soul spirits as substitutes for conventional soul rings, with less harm to soul beasts and greater ability enhancement for soul masters 40.
• Da Ming becomes Lu Chen's first soul spirit by integrating into the Asura Demon Sword. A sixth ring appears, and Lu Chen gains Sky Azure Bull Python abilities 144.
• A vow sworn by one's martial soul is binding: breaking it would shatter the martial soul and destroy the soul master's cultivation 307.
