Chapter 9: Crimson Lotus Hell Chief! (Please Read On!)

"Stop! Both of you, stop! No more fighting!"

Hannyabal forcibly inserted himself between Storm and Sadie-chan, trying to use his body to halt their battle.

But Sadie-chan had no time to spare for Hannyabal at all.

She looked somewhat anxiously toward the group of Blue Gorillas.

Sadie-chan had only acted on a whim, wanting to test the mettle of this new prisoner who had just entered the jail.

She wasn't insane enough to want the Blue Gorilla unit to incite a riot inside Impel Down and cause a bloodbath!

But before Hannyabal and Sadie-chan could restrain the Blue Gorilla unit's actions, this group of "Sea Fighters" had already automatically stopped their advance.

Burger was not a high-intelligence creature.

Though they were all members of the "Gorilla" clan, Blue Gorillas were nowhere near the Monkey Family (strikethrough)—

nowhere near the group of baboons on Karakana Island known as "Human Mimickers."

Under normal circumstances, Blue Gorillas needed to rely on external commands to act.

Simply put, Blue Gorillas were actually a type of beast with very low intelligence.

For beasts of such low intelligence, an important indicator for measuring enemy and ally strength was—body size!

Looking at the White Gorilla's sturdy frame that nearly touched the ceiling, and then at the comrade on the ground who had been beaten completely unconscious, the Blue Gorillas had lost the courage to attack on their own.

They only gathered together, continuously issuing warning-like roars toward the White Gorilla, but refused to approach it.

Seeing this scene, Storm regretfully withdrew the surrounding clay.

Harmony?

Storm glanced over at Sadie-chan's side.

That woman was frantically whipping a Blue Gorilla—the very one that had been knocked unconscious by the White Gorilla's punch earlier.

Sadie-chan was probably trying to wake this accidentally fainted jailer through this method of physical whipping.

The crackling sound of the whip was incessant.

This scene—how could it be called "harmony"?

Unless all Blue Gorillas were masochists!

Hannyabal probably realized the awkwardness too.

He nodded toward Sadie-chan's direction and said in a low voice.

"Sadie-chan came to Impel Down last year. She's only 17 this year, and her personality is... a bit proud.

"If you don't mind, I could introduce my subordinate Domino to you instead.

"My Domino has a much gentler personality than Sadie-chan."

Snap!

Sadie-chan cracked another whip into the air.

"Don't think I didn't hear that, Hannibal!"

Sadie-chan strode forward, her high heels clicking against the floor.

"Do you want a taste of my Crimson Demon Whip? Hmm!?"

Seeing the shift, Hannibal furrowed his brow.

He immediately retreated behind Storm, still stubbornly talking back.

"Address me as Lord Hannibal! Sadie-chan! I'm the Chief Jailer!"

"Tch!"

Sadie-chan let out a scoff. She couldn't be bothered with Hannibal.

She looked at Storm with keen interest, propping her chin on her right hand as her pink tongue traced the corner of her lips.

"Finally a handsome guy shows up in Impel Down. Too bad I won't get to hear a handsome guy scream."

"Thanks for the compliment."

Storm looked Sadie-chan up and down. He had to admit, her outfit was certainly "eye-catching."

"But it seems you enjoy this kind of sadistic play?"

"I wouldn't say I like it."

"So you love it, then?"

"That's right! I love it!"

Sadie-chan flashed a radiant smile, her whole body exuding a wild, unrestrained aura.

"Vongola Storm? Want to come play with me?"

"Hey, hey! Sadie-chan!"

Before Storm could respond, Hannibal, still hiding behind him, spoke up first.

"Vongola's still a rookie here. You can't go corrupting him!"

"Hannibal!"

Sadie-chan shot the Lord Chief Jailer an impatient glare.

"You have no sense of romance!"

Then, without waiting for Hannibal to say another word, she turned and left.

Once she was far enough away, Hannibal stepped out from behind Storm and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"What a dangerous woman..."

Dangerous?

Storm watched Sadie-chan's silhouette disappear into the dim corridor.

The group of Blue Gorillas vanished along with her.

Storm wasn't particularly interested in Sadie-chan's invitation to play.

But he was very interested in Sadie-chan's [Big Trophy].

From that brief exchange just now, Storm had a basic estimate of Sadie-chan's strength.

Roughly speaking, she should be another Silver Trophy!

A [Big Trophy]—who would ever complain about having too many?

"Hey, hey! Vongola!"

Hannibal waved a hand in front of Storm's eyes.

"Stop staring. You'll see her again tonight anyway."

Lord Hannibal explained.

"The jailers of Crimson Lotus Hell are mainly those Blue Gorillas.

"Impel Down's test for you was to defeat one Blue Gorilla.

"That way, it'd be easier for you to manage them later.

"But looking at it now, that test is completely meaningless..."

The White Gorilla Storm had created knocked out the Blue Gorilla—invincible in Crimson Lotus Hell—with a single punch.

What was there left to test?!

"Sadie-chan mentioned earlier that she said I was here to take over her job."

Storm didn't care much about this so-called "test." What intrigued him was something else.

"If that's the case, was Sadie-chan the Jailer Chief of Crimson Lotus Hell before?

"Now that I'm here, what work is she going to handle?"

"Sadie-chan got promoted. She'll be in charge of managing the Prison Beasts from now on."

Lord Hannibal pointed at the floor.

"That job is far more dangerous than being the Jailer Chief of Crimson Lotus Hell."

Prison Beasts?

Hearing that special name, several half-human, half-beast figures flashed through Storm's mind.

Rumor had it.

Every Prison Beast inside Impel Down was an Awakened Zoan Devil Fruit user.

To be precise, they were "Failed Awakenings"!

Though the Prison Beasts looked comical and harmless on the surface.

In reality, they were all cold-blooded creatures.

The failed awakening of their Zoan Devil Fruits had caused these failures to lose all their original humanity.

Throughout the entire Impel Down.

If Magellan stood alone at the very top of the power pyramid.

Then these Prison Beasts were at least in the second tier in terms of strength!

Storm was very interested in the Prison Beasts.

After all, even the Blue Gorilla had a star rating of "★★★."

Storm nodded regretfully.

After the little interruption with Sadie-chan and the Blue Gorilla.

Storm followed Lord Hannibal to continue touring Impel Down.

But their tour was limited to the First Sea Level.

Storm didn't get to go deeper into Crimson Lotus Hell below, or the other hells further down.

Impel Down's "biggest feature"—the pirates.

Storm didn't get to encounter any today.

He'd originally wanted to try his hand on some pirates...

Just as the tour was about to end.

Hannyabal called out to Storm, intending to pass on some work experience.

"The work at Impel Down is actually quite easy."

Hannyabal instructed earnestly.

"If a problem arises, your subordinates can handle ninety percent of the trouble, and Magellan can take care of the remaining ten percent.

"You're about to become the Jailer Chief of Crimson Lotus Hell, and the Blue Gorillas will be your subordinates.

"With their help, no prisoner in Crimson Lotus Hell will dare to provoke you.

"Now, what I need to remind you of are a few other points of caution."

Having said this, Hannyabal paused, his expression rarely turning serious.

"First, don't provoke the Prison Beasts. Even if you're interested in them, they are no longer human!

"Second, don't rashly venture into the Lower Hells. The prisoners held in each level are of completely different strength tiers.

"Third, never get close to Shiryu of the Rain! That guy... is a being even more cold-blooded than the monsters of the Infinite Hell.

"And finally, the most important point!"

Hannyabal took a deep breath as he reached the end, speaking with solemn gravity.

"Vongola Storm!

"You are a man I acknowledge!

"Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely do not let yourself be won over by that venomous bastard Magellan!"
