Clutching her aching chest, the girl casually pulled out a Book of Star Charts, tore it open, and quickly traced out a Mind Element Star Map.
The nearest pursuer jerked his head back as if he'd been struck hard. A flicker of fear crossed his eyes.
It was as though the one running ahead wasn't a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, but a tigress who'd just eaten her fill and was out for a stroll, perfectly happy to make him her midnight snack.
