Organization

The Military operates through regional Military Regions, dedicated Mage corps, and higher Military Departments. Biyi City, for example, is under military management through the Biyi Military Region, which serves as the protective barrier between Dongting Lake's Lizard Skull Giant Demon tribe and the eastern cities 371.

Duties and Doctrine

• Defend civilians and Safety Zones — Military forces organize evacuations, establish isolation zones, clear escape routes, and hold positions until reinforcements arrive 79.
• Contain demon threats before they reach population centers — Military Regions monitor demon territories, establish defenses, and conduct extermination operations against undead, sea monsters, and large demon tribes 37 371.
• Prioritize coordinated warfare — Large-scale operations combine reconnaissance, long-range firepower, Mage corps, tamed beasts, and Super Level Mages rather than relying on individual combatants 391 667.
• Uphold military conduct — Military Mages are expected to embody “loyalty, bravery, and responsibility,” while officers who slaughter civilians, cultivate evil arts, or refuse accountability may be executed and reported afterward 389 598.

Weapons and Military Technology

Training and Recruitment

Military training introduces students to the dangers beyond Safety Zones and places them alongside active Military Mages defending Gudu from the Qinling Demon Empire and the Huaxia Undead Empire 37.

The Central Military Region Grand Competition is held every two years to select outstanding young Military Mages for the Forbidden Army. Preliminary contestants fight in an unrestricted abandoned-village melee; the final five advance to the next stage 51.

Gold Forest Military Academy later formalized command training under Military Governor Xu Fang. Its Command Course emphasizes reconnaissance, intelligence analysis, direct communications, electronic interference, and real battlefield practice over traditional formation-based warfare 617 619.

Major Operations

Lintong Military Region and the Terracotta Army

During the Lintong military training period, Military Mages and student soldiers defended Gudu's walls against the Terracotta Army. The force’s organized response defeated the attacking Centurion and Captains, forcing the surviving undead underground at dawn 39 42.

Bomb deployment during subsequent attacks substantially reduced casualties, with some city sections reporting zero losses while destroying thousands of Terracotta Warriors 43.

Gudu Cataclysm

When Sha Yuan and the undead army threatened Gudu, the Military mobilized Mage corps, Worker Bees, High-level Mages, and Super Level Mages. The force carved a path through the undead sea while elite Mages engaged the Ghoul Tyrant and the Eight Directions Undead Lords 242 246.

Golden Forest Wasteland City

The Military launched an operation to expel the Dongting Lake Lizard Skull Giant Demon tribe and establish Golden Forest City. The project combined military control, city construction, bomb production, Worker Bee reconnaissance, and the Heart of the Earth operation 371 391.

Xu Fang was later officially appointed Military Governor of Dongting Lake during an Army Day award ceremony 598.

Northern Barrens War

At Yunmen Fortress City, the Northern Military Department prepared to eradicate the Northern Barrens Savage Beasts before their expected autumn offensive. The operation used Worker Bees and Dolphins for reconnaissance, tactical bombs to disrupt charges, Dragon Beast squads for suppression, and Mage formations capable of confronting Monarch-level threats 667.

After the battle, a memorial service honored the fallen Military Mages, Hunter Mages, and freelance Mages who died in the campaign 669.

• Jiang Chong — Army Commander who oversaw promotions, commendations, and Xu Fang’s appointment as Military Governor 464 598.
• Zhan Kong — Chief Instructor during the Gudu crisis and later a Military Governor assigned to Golden Forest Wasteland City 252 371.
• Fei Jiao — Lintong Military Region Chief Instructor who reported the effectiveness of bomb warfare and supervised the Military Region Grand Competition 43 51.
• Qiu Xin — Grand Military Commander of the Biyi Military Region who announced the Golden Forest City plan and coordinated its demon extermination campaign 371 391.
• Ai Jiangtu — General of the Northern Military Department who helped prepare and direct the Northern Barrens operation 667.
