Before long, the thunder of hooves, fierce as a torrential downpour, rang out through the vast night.
Who was coming?
Were they the scar-faced man's accomplices? Or had the purple-faced brute called for help? The thunder of hooves was terrifying—there had to be at least eighty riders, if not a hundred.
"Who are you?" Wang Xian asked the woman before him.
"Guess."
The woman in white furrowed her brows and said coldly, "Come with me. We can't stay here."

Wang Xian shouted, "Those two bandit killers have nothing to do with me! It's that someone from Phoenix Academy, Baiyun Mountain, who put a bounty on me and won't let me live in peace."
"Wang Xian!"
A hoarse voice came from beyond the courtyard wall. "You and your woman can't get away! Come out and die!"
Wang Xian recognized Wang Laoliu's voice.
He glanced at the woman in white, thinking, You're the one who beat them up, aren't you?
"Let's go."
The woman in white grabbed Wang Xian by the collar and lifted him from his chair, then walked toward the courtyard exit. She gave a cold laugh. "If you don't pull up the roots, the spring breeze will bring them back to life."
Wang Xian shook his head. "Then what? Should I go fight them to the death?"
"Heh."
