In the blink of an eye, ten days had passed.
After Mid-Autumn Festival, the weather was no longer as sweltering as before. It could truly be called crisp autumn weather.
Apart from Guangyue Prefecture and Jiaozhou in the far south of the Wei Dynasty, everywhere else was pleasantly cool, with gentle breezes.
Yet the people of Wei were busier than ever.
After the autumn harvest, farming households began preparing for winter and the coming year—building dikes, reinforcing irrigation channels, plowing and turning the soil, and so on.
Merchants saw little change. Regardless of weather or season, they remained busy all year round.
Even scholars were far busier than before.
Most students were occupied preparing for the upcoming county examinations, prefectural examinations, Prefectural Examination, and annual assessments.
The county examinations across the nine provinces and Three Prefectures of the Wei Dynasty had no fixed dates, though most were held between September and the following January.
Students who passed the county examination could take the prefectural examination in February, followed by the Prefectural Examination a few months later.
Passing the Prefectural Examination earned one the title of "Student Member," commonly known as a Xiucai.
To take the provincial examination and Metropolitan Examination, one first had to pass the imperial examinations and obtain the qualifications of a "Student Member."
All in all, once autumn arrived, students throughout Great Wei were preparing for the various examinations ahead.
Even Xiucai were the same. If they wished to retain their status, they could not miss the annual assessment.
Yet while preparing for their examinations after Mid-Autumn Festival, the students did not forget to join in the excitement.
For instance, they discussed which masterworks had emerged from the Mid-Autumn Poetry Gatherings held across the provinces and prefectures.
