Early in the morning, Chen Shouyi was jolted awake by Shell Girl. The room was still dim with dawn light. He picked up the watch beside his pillow. It was only five.
Would this ever end?
He glanced helplessly at Shell Girl, who was beside his pillow, earnestly reading aloud at the top of her voice, then collapsed back onto the bed.
Since yesterday noon, Shell Girl had been in a state of excitement. Either she raced around the bedroom or chattered nonstop like she was chanting a sutra. She was just like a hyperactive child who'd been pumped full of stimulants.
She'd only slept a few hours since last night, yet she was up again with a picture book, reading aloud without stopping.
He lay there for a few seconds, but when he realized he wasn't going to fall back asleep, he had no choice but to get up and get dressed.
"Stupid giant, you're awake?"
Chen Shouyi nodded wearily.
She was getting more and more overconfident lately. What a little rascal.
"You got up so early. Aren't you sleepy?"
"Not sleepy at all. Little Dot is a hardworking Little Dot." Shell Girl cast Chen Shouyi a sidelong glance and said with an earnest expression, then resumed reading aloud at the top of her voice.
Chen Shouyi's heart skipped a beat. What was that look?
He didn't know if Little Dot was hardworking, but she certainly wasn't a proper little dot!
He got dressed and headed to the bathroom.
A little while later, Shell Girl, sitting on the bed, twitched her ears. She immediately put down her book and hurried after him. Then she jumped onto the sink and carefully watched Chen Shouyi brushing his teeth in the mirror.
