A few minutes later, Chen Shouyi fell out of the metal sphere and hit the ground. He struggled to his feet, swaying unsteadily.
Blood streamed from all seven apertures. Where his eyes should have been were now two bloody holes. He looked utterly wretched.
He had still vastly underestimated how terrifying "Tam" was.
Nothing had happened before simply because Tam hadn't paid him any attention. But once Tam truly opened his eyes and looked at him, all Chen Shouyi's preparations and countermeasures had been utterly useless—laughable, even.
Had he not decisively activated Insight at the last moment, his consciousness might have crumbled beneath Tam's gaze.
Even so, he had suffered grievous injuries.
His wounds were worse than they looked.
When Tam had "looked" at him this time, it was as if Tam's will had tainted his entire body. After activating Insight, his consciousness had barely managed to hold together, but the faint wills of the cells in his body seemed to have been "washed away," vanishing without a trace.
He felt as if his body were paralyzed—numb and sluggish. Even standing was difficult.
That wasn't all. With his self-healing ability, his injuries should have healed long ago, yet there wasn't even the slightest sign of recovery.
Worse still, a frenzied, chaotic will lingered in his mind, tainting his consciousness. Escaping from the metal sphere had already taken everything he had.
"But it's not impossible to fix." Chen Shouyi sighed.
With a glimmer of hope, he opened his Status Panel.
