The next morning, Chen Shouyi returned from practicing swordsmanship at the haunted house.
When he walked into the house, he found someone else there.
"Shouyi, what took you so long? She's been waiting for you ages," Mother Chen complained.
Bai Xiaoling quickly stood up, looking a little awkward. "It's all right, Auntie. I haven't been waiting long. I'm the one who's causing you trouble."
She wasn't wearing her police uniform today. Instead, she had on a black-and-white business outfit and looked like a city office worker.

"Of course. Go ahead."
Chen Shouyi put his sword in the bedroom. Just as he stepped into the bathroom, his sister crept in, looking furtive.
"Big Brother, you've got yourself a mistress?"
"What mistress? That sounds awful. She's a liaison from the Public Security Sub-bureau. She's a police officer," Chen Shouyi said as he washed his face.
"Then why'd they pick someone so pretty for the liaison job? Her face is as pointy as a fox spirit's." Chen Xingyue gave a little huff.
"How should I know? You little brat, don't go making things up!"
Chen Xingyue curled her lip. "You talk as if you're so grown-up. You're only two years older than me."
"When I could run, you were still nursing!" Chen Shouyi hung the towel on
