"Are you alright?"
Tony wanted to curse him out, but upon seeing the bloodstains on the other person, he wisely shut his mouth.
"Did you do all this?" he asked, suppressing the urge to vomit as he looked at the handsome black-haired youth, his eyes filled with disbelief.
"I was in a nearby village and heard the Ten Rings Gang kidnapped a rich tycoon. Looks like that's you?" Alvin pretended not to know him, rubbing his thumb and index finger together with a friendly smile. "So, it's time to settle the bill. I saved you, how much are you willing to pay?"
"You saved me?"
Tony's rebellious streak flared up instantly. He puffed out his chest and shouted, "Hey, kid, look closely! I got out myself!"
Crack!
The moment he finished speaking, the Tin Man's head was twisted off.
Alvin raised his hand, and the First Generation Iron Man Armor's head fell into his grasp. He weighed it a few times and said calmly, "Continue. And then?"
Tony, with his head exposed, watched his helmet being ripped off and held in Alvin's hand, his eyelids twitching violently.
After half a second of hesitation, he decisively changed his tune. "That's right! If you hadn't drawn their attention outside, we couldn't have gotten out so smoothly!"
It turned out that no matter how stubborn someone was, they would compromise when their life was threatened.
"So, let's talk about compensation, Mr. Tycoon."
Alvin twitched his index finger and tossed the helmet over, saying with a smile, "Since you were kidnapped by the Ten Rings Gang, you must be very rich, right?"
"Kid, remove the 'must be'. I am very, very, extremely rich!"
Mentioning this, Tony wore a proud expression, like a swan. "You can't even imagine how much money I have!"
What to do, I really want to beat this show-off to death!
Alvin's mouth twitched, and he suppressed the urge to punch him. "Fine, then give me a million. Consider it payment for saving you."
"What? A million?"
Tony's eyes widened.
"You think it's too much?" Alvin was a bit surprised. It shouldn't be. With Tony's assets, a million is just a drop in the bucket?
"No, it's too little, kid." Tony yelled, looking insulted, his face full of anger. "Do you know who I am? How could a mere million be worthy of me, Tony Stark? At least ten times more, no, even a hundred times more, and it still wouldn't be worth a single hair on my head!"
Sometimes, you really couldn't understand what these rich people were thinking. Alvin nodded along and said, "Alright, as you wish. One hundred million dollars."
"..."
This time, it was Tony's turn to fall silent, his face twitching a few times. "I was speaking metaphorically. Do you understand what a metaphor is?"
"Didn't you say that even a hundred times more isn't worth a single hair on your head?" Alvin loved seeing rich people flustered. He put on a surprised look. "It's okay, I understand. If you can't afford it, then forget it. Just give me a million."
"Can't afford it? Who are you calling unable to afford it!"
Tony was so angry his liver hurt, and he pointed at Alvin, his hand trembling. "Fine, fine, fine. One hundred million it is. I don't care about this little bit of money at all!"
Alvin had figured it out. People like Tony had to be dealt with in reverse.
Tony Stark was a very intelligent man.
A playboy, a billionaire, a super genius, possessing countless titles. And in the Marvel universe, the most widely known was undoubtedly "Iron Man."
He single-handedly created the Arc Reactor in a cave, a feat that alone put him a hundred years ahead of the rest of the world.
No wonder Thanos called him a man cursed by knowledge.
Oh, and there was a high probability he was also cursed by money, just like that certain golden flash next door. He wouldn't have to worry about money his entire life.
It was truly enough to make one green with envy!
"So nice. I wish I could be cursed by knowledge too."
Alvin fantasized, but unfortunately, with his failing grades in math and science, he probably wouldn't have that chance in this lifetime.
Of course, he wasn't doing this entirely for the money. It was purely to find a suitable reason to get close to Tony Stark.
Tony, who had just spent a hundred million dollars for a slip of the tongue, took a deep breath and skillfully adopted a boss-like demeanor. "Now, I'm paying. I'm your employer. Any problems?"
"No problem. One hundred million dollars, and you're my God."
Alvin shrugged indifferently. It was just talk, after all.
"Very good. Go find a car and take us out of here." Tony plopped down on the ground, covered in sweat.
It was clear that this model, hand-crafted in a cave, wasn't as lightweight as later models. The pilot had to expend a lot of energy while operating it.
Alvin stared at the person hiding behind him and asked, "May I ask, Mr. Billionaire, who is this person next to you?"
"His name is Yinsen. He's my... friend."
Tony hesitated for half a second before introducing him as a friend. "What? Is there a problem?"
"There's a small problem~" Alvin rubbed his index finger and thumb together, looking at Tony with a smile. "You need to pay more!"
"Add! Damn it, you're a devil!" Tony gritted his teeth in anger, but he was helpless. "I'll pay you more. Ten million. Take both of us out, you greedy brat!"
"I'm not a greedy brat, Mr. Billionaire."
Alvin cleared his throat and introduced himself. "My name is Alvin Walsius, a traveling merchant."
"Hey, I gave you a hundred million, and this is what you give me to eat?"
Tony glared at Alvin, his face full of resentment. He had almost chipped his front teeth trying to chew that biscuit earlier.
"You have two choices, delicate rich man." Alvin wasn't about to indulge him. He pointed to the cactus outside the car: "Either you learn from a camel and chew on that, or you eat this."
After glancing at the prickly cactus, Tony ultimately chose the latter between the camel and the dry biscuit: "Damn it, this must be the most expensive biscuit in the world!"
That was actually true. A biscuit worth a hundred million US dollars was, if not unprecedented, at least unparalleled.
Yinsen quietly gnawed on his biscuit, much like someone with social anxiety.
Tony, on the other hand, was like a social terrorist. He hadn't stopped talking since he got in the car.
Alvin's ears were ringing from the noise, and he seriously doubted if he had rescued the right person.
"Alvin, how did you unscrew my helmet?"
"Are there any limitations to your abilities?"
"Why aren't you talking?"
Staring at Tony, who was chattering incessantly, almost rivaling Deadpool, Alvin felt his Blood Essence surge.
"Tony, if you don't shut up, I'll kick you out of the car!" Alvin couldn't take it anymore. He gripped the steering wheel, slammed on the brakes, veins bulging on his forehead: "I can swear to God, even if you give me another hundred million, I absolutely will not compromise!"
The sudden, sharp braking almost sent Tony's head crashing into the windshield.
Seeing Alvin on the verge of exploding from being harassed, Tony showed no concern at all. He directly held up two fingers: "Here's another two hundred million."
"Alright, what do you want to ask? Esteemed rich man."
Alvin's expression changed instantly, becoming gentle and friendly.
Yinsen in the back seat widened his eyes, his face filled with confusion. Is this the world of the rich?
Taking in Yinsen's expression, Tony wore a look of utter satisfaction, his desire to show off reaching its peak: "Remember this, any problem that can be solved with money is not a problem in front of me, Tony Stark, my dear Yinsen, Alvin."
