As a succubus who fed on others' soul essence in their dreams, Elusha could always clearly sense the boundary between dreams and reality.
And so she realized that she was now deep inside a dream—
Her own dream.
It was an unusual feeling. After all, even succubi rarely dreamed.
She, or rather her kind, preferred to enter other people's dreams and guide their thoughts toward a particular goal.
So Elusha had never imagined that her own dream would be a desert.
So utterly lifeless.
Just like her slowly drying soul.
Weakness washed over her, leaving her no strength to concern herself with anything else.
She simply hurried forward, quickening her steps to escape the wasteland, to leave this parched dream behind.
And so she walked for one day, then two...
She began to abandon the fantasy of leaving the desert. All she prayed for was an oasis somewhere ahead.
She walked for one month, then two...
Now, even an oasis was unnecessary.
A single pool of sweet spring water would suffice.
But the merciless sun continued to scorch her dehydrated skin.
The sweltering heat made her strip off her last piece of silk.
Her bare soles pressed against the scorching, rough gravel. Only pain could make her feel alive.
At last, she felt utterly exhausted, the final trace of moisture squeezed from her body.
And so she finally collapsed upon the earth, burying herself in the yellow soil of life.
At that moment, she no longer wanted to think about anything.
She only wanted to force a hoarse rasp through her cracked lips and make one final plea to the world:
"I... I want... even a single drop of water." The distinction between gods and the Devil slowly blurred in her clouded eyes.
One drop of water.
Just one drop
