[Tang Qi's Wasteland Guide, title page—

"Wasteland" is a very broad concept.

Much as we often group well-known northern locations such as the "Holy City," "Ironforge," and "Icewind Valley" under the name "Northern Lands."

The Wasteland is everything south of the Twilight Forest... well, more precisely, south of Dragon Gold City, because legend has it that this Giant Dragon's lair once stood at the very center of the world—

The "world," not the continent.

After all, the present-day Forgotten Continent resembles an irregular horseshoe, with the Tyron Empire and the Lord Alliance occupying opposite ends. The Great Desert separates them in the middle, leaving waterways as the only means of travel between them.

By that reckoning, Dragon Gold City isn't even at the center of the Lord Alliance.

Perhaps only the Alliance's founder knows why the boundaries were drawn this way, but unfortunately, she was only born three months ago, so she would have trouble answering that question.

In any case, the southern landscape is generally more natural. Beyond the Twilight Forest, for example, lies a boundless green plain.

You can continue south along the paved road, passing familiar stopping points such as "Lucky Town" and the "Ebony Forest"...

Apart from the coastal stretch known as "Wealth Bay," the green plains extending all the way to the Southern Great Wall are collectively called the Wasteland.

Since most areas don't offer as much to write about as Dragon Gold City—which does, after all, have a dungeon beneath it—I have compiled my accounts of everything along the way into the Wasteland Guide.

That way, a single book can give you a general understanding of the entire south, without forcing you to buy one volume after another...

You're getting an absolute bargain, so hurry up and recommend it to your friends and family!]
