The roar was different from Yiwu's shrill cries. Tang Qi had only heard a similar bellow on rainy nights, when thunder split apart giant trees—a roar that echoed through a sealed cave, booming so loudly it nearly shattered his eardrums.
The sulfur Qi filling the surroundings grew denser and hotter. The smoke pouring from the Red Dragon's nostrils blew straight into Tang Qi's face.
Its jaws stretched wide. By the bright light from the ring, he could still see its shattered, bloodied fangs—jagged and uneven. It was impossible to imagine what sort of hard shell it had chewed apart before. The blood made its tongue and teeth look even more savage.
A spark flickered at the entrance to its throat.
A rolling wave of heat surged toward them.
That was the omen of its breath!
He looked toward Butcher, but the other man was too far away. There was no way Tang Qi could reach him.
His split-second reaction was to throw himself toward Anbi, who was not far away. "Get close to me!"
He shouted.
In the dark cave, they had only an instant to make a decision.
But everyone understood that they were still dozens of meters from the open cave entrance behind them. No one could leave the cave in such a short time.
They had no choice but to trust Tang Qi.
Halahar and Shivana threw themselves toward Tang Qi at the same time.
"Roar!"
The Red Dragon's neck twisted in Tang Qi's direction, dragging the flames it spewed along with it.
The blazing firelight seemed to ignite the cave, turning the sealed cavern into a high-temperature furnace and swallowing Tang Qi and everything behind him whole.
Halahar gripped Tang Qi's clothes tightly and squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the burning pain of the flames.
