Background

He Nu was one of ten young girls bought by the Great Head God and brought into Golden Peng Fortress. She was assigned the slave name “He Nu,” while her original name was Huo Yun. Quiet, watchful, and intensely serious, she listened closely to Xue Niang’s instruction and became one of her most promising pupils. 27 333

During her apprenticeship, Xue Niang ordered her to train Gu Shenwei nightly in fighting, saber work, Lightness Skill, and hidden weapons. He Nu became a central figure in the Arm Slave Gang, settling disputes and persuading apprentices from different masters to cooperate. 45 79

Before meeting Gu Shenwei, He Nu had formed an attachment to Yao Nu. Yao Nu concealed her existence from the other boys, treating her as a private secret. After Gu Shenwei drove Yao Nu into fatal Qi Deviation, He Nu’s memory of him gradually faded, but the hatred fostered by the Death Sutra remained and became the basis of her revenge against Gu Shenwei. 246

He Nu and Gu Shenwei nevertheless developed a profound partnership. They formed alliances, studied forbidden manuals, planned assassinations, and relied on each other inside the fortress.
