Inquiring
Seeing Chaka Abuluta looking like he was about to fall apart, Li Bai and Sun Nanzheng laughed in unison.
The guy was a glutton!
"Fine, I feel bad for the poor guy. Let's have hot pot. Electric or charcoal? I only have an electric one."
Sun Nanzheng went back inside, brought the table over, and set it near the doorway so the steam from the hot pot could escape outside.
The rainy season was damp enough already. If the moisture built up inside the house, it'd be growing mushrooms before long.
"Charcoal. I brought charcoal and solid alcohol!"
Li Bai turned around and carried two large boxes down from the vehicle.
One was an insulated cooler packed with ice bags; the other held the hot pot and its charcoal fuel.
"You came prepared in advance, didn't you?"
Seeing all this, Sun Nanzheng knew his plan to treat Li Bai to a meal had gone completely out the window.
No matter how much he prepared, nothing the farm had to offer could compare with this hot pot.
And now, instead of treating Li Bai, he was being treated—and his debt of gratitude just kept growing.
"Of course. This is Africa. There's no food or drink to be had. If you don't bring your own, what are you supposed to eat—dirt?"
Li Bai set the gleaming purple-copper hot pot on the table. He didn't rush to fill it with charcoal and solid alcohol. Instead, he opened the cooler, which was packed with all kinds of vegetables and meat ready to go straight into the pot. There were even seafood options like abalone, mussels, dried scallops, lobster, and salmon.
"Hey, hey, that's regional discrimination! I won't stand for it!"
Old Hei Chaka protested on behalf of Africa.
"Don't you Africans eat dirt?"
