A Deadly Order
"Did you see that?"
Elisa was no longer surprised. She pointed to the back of her other hand.
The energy channels beneath her skin had dimmed considerably, yet they were still stubbornly glowing. However, she was beginning to leave her ATP-saturated state.
Perhaps in another ten minutes or so, the energy channels distributed among her muscles, large and small, would stop glowing on their own.
The human body was like a low-quality battery. Even after careful tuning through advanced biotechnology, it could contain more life energy and release it at will, but replenishing and maintaining ATP remained difficult.
"I saw it. What exactly is going on? Are you still berserk?"
Brant nodded with difficulty. The energy channels had continued glowing for so long that they had frightened all their companions.
His degree of bodily modification was inferior to Elisa's, so he had no way to judge her condition.
"That wine!"
Elisa wore a look of recollection, then said with absolute certainty, "It was filled with life energy!"
That unforgettable wine was absolutely the greatest gift imaginable for warriors like her who had undergone bodily modification.
With just one bottle, she would dare challenge an entire army alone.
"What? Wine? Energy?"
Brant found it hard to imagine what kind of wine could allow Elisa, whose degree of bodily modification was higher than his, to maintain her berserk state for so long.
Did they really think precious life energy ATP was free?
Elisa told him without hiding anything, "Yes. I drank a cup of wine, and then this happened!"
"Did you drink the legendary Divine Wine? Are you sure you weren't poisoned?"
Brant still looked incredulous.
