Li Bai nodded.
Annan, that little brother of a country, had been unruly since ancient times. Just hearing the name was enough to make people frown.
Still, an Annanese member of the International Criminal Police was at least part of the Greater Chinese Co-Prosperity Sphere. That made him better than Europeans and Americans, whose values were worlds apart.
"Get some rest first. I'll go with you when you visit the Japanese Embassy."
Secretary Xu wasn't comfortable letting Li Bai meet with the Japanese and the Annanese Interpol officer alone. As an old hand, he naturally had to step in.
That way, the Japanese and Annanese wouldn't get carried away. After all, nothing in international affairs was trivial. Bullying someone in private was no big deal; with diplomatic immunity, even murder and arson could earn a sentence reduced by three grades.
"But Less, let's go now!"
Li Bai could handle this by himself, but having Secretary Xu as a powerful backer would at least serve as a deterrent.
The two reached the same decision at the same time.
"Then let's go!"
Secretary Xu had already made preparations before Li Bai arrived.
Their ride was the same enormous motorhome as before. It rumbled like a train as it charged toward the Japanese Embassy, eight hundred meters away.
"Doctor Li, Secretary Xu, welcome. We've been expecting you."
Since their diplomatic standing was equal, the person greeting Li Bai and Secretary Xu was also a second secretary at the Japanese Embassy: Noguchi Wu.
"Where's Mr. Yamamoto? At the hospital or the embassy?"
Li Bai got straight to the point. Perhaps the truth would only come to light once he saw Yamamoto Takeo in person.
"At the embassy. Medical care in Nairobi is very limited, so we have
