The enhanced infantry company, capable of defeating enemies above its weight class, was more than enough to dominate this region. No one doubted its firepower or combat prowess.
As soon as word spread, the tribes that had been itching for a fight immediately quieted down. How could they dare make any rash moves? The days of big fish eating little fish and little fish eating shrimp were over. Now there was nothing left to eat—only the prospect of being swallowed whole.
With divine troops descending from the heavens, the region, once engulfed in fighting, calmed in an instant. The smoke cleared, as though nothing had ever happened.
The refugees were satisfied, the people at Landon Hawkwell Manor were satisfied, and the small tribes unable to defend themselves were satisfied. Almost everyone was satisfied—except the ambitious.
