1680 — The Deal
"Sure, as long as I'm not disturbing you!"
Heracles nodded, set down the delicious little cream cakes and black tea, then sat up straight. "The clay tablets you gave us are written in ancient Sumerian cuneiform. They record a story about a prehistoric hero. Since it's an original historical account with no other similar sources, it isn't a legend, and it's highly reliable. The story takes place on Bahrain Island!"
What he said sounded a little far-fetched, but coming from a "Saint," it carried a great deal more weight.
Li Bai raised an eyebrow in surprise and ventured a guess. "So that prehistoric hero is also on Bahrain Island, right?"
With the time, place, and person established, the rest should be easier to figure out.
The Saint's Association had gone to such lengths, gathering so many Saints and members and booking three floors of a hotel, presumably for the sake of this prehistoric hero.
Rather than a group effort to search for or witness something, it sounded more like they were preparing to welcome some important figure. There was also a whole string of preparations and operations that Li Bai still knew nothing about.
Several Saints, led by Heracles, were planning all of it.
"Exactly. Talking to a smart man makes things easy!"
Heracles laughed and slapped the table, as if they shared the same insight. He clearly regarded Li Bai as his equal. Strength determined status; that was true everywhere.
Then he lowered his voice and said solemnly, "Tomorrow, all the answers will be revealed!"
The Saint's Association's specialist team had already located the site described on the prehistoric tablets. Now, only the final step remained. Perhaps they really would witness the miracle Heracles had spoken of—or even a divine miracle.
