Saint's Association's Killer Move
"Is that a bombardier beetle?"
The Saint of "Strength" finally came to his senses, his face full of disbelief. This was way too damn unscientific.
The last blue flash on the screen had clearly been off. It was highly suspicious.
This insect was even more terrifying than zombies. It could shoot down drones flying in the sky.
The old wizard said gravely, "It's probably a mutant species, and quite possibly artificially bred."
By all rights, the Ghoul Curse shouldn't have spread across species so quickly. Based on the information they'd gotten from Enmenam, the prehistoric hero, the Ghoul Curse was highly specific: it only infected humans, and it was extremely stable.
As for the sudden appearance of mutated human zombies, it was probably related to the special genetic sequences of Superpower Users.
In a sense, superpowers also implied a certain degree of genetic mutation, or even instability in the sequence of base pairs. Everything had its pros and cons. If someone possessed strength beyond that of ordinary people, they were bound to lose something in some other regard.
Under normal circumstances, these latent risks were unlikely to surface. But after exposure to the Ghoul Curse, things were no longer the same.
Unstable genetic sequences were the fuse, while the Ghoul Curse was the powder keg.
"Launch 'Flying Fox 03.' Don't let the drones get any closer to the oasis. Keep them at the maximum distance for reconnaissance."
The Saint of "Witchcraft," Konaukuwi, issued the order to the technicians.
The oasis concealing the secret laboratory of the Saint of "Poison," Jaharlal Choudhury, lay deep in the Tar Desert, too far from its edge. Relying on just one drone to relay the signal was a considerable strain, and it also interfered with their surveillance of the desert.
