Making a Name for Himself
Though they'd made every connection on time, by the time Li Bai and the two demonesses finally transferred flights in New Delhi and arrived in Jodhpur, the sun was already sinking toward the horizon.
They found a spot outside the city, brought out the RV, and followed satellite positioning to get on the right road. As they reached the increasingly desolate edge of the desert, dusk had fallen. Outside the city, the moon shone bright amid sparse stars.
India might have an exploding population, but it hadn't yet crowded the entire subcontinent. Many places were still vast and sparsely populated.
The road ahead was rough and bumpy, but it was still far better than the African Continent, where the scenery was wild and primitive everywhere. Qingyao and Hong Li were soon jolted half-asleep.
A beam of light suddenly swept over from the roadside, shining right onto the vehicle. Li Bai lightly tapped the brakes and slowed down. The RV finally came to a gradual stop.
The door quickly slid open to the side, directly facing the people by the roadside.
"Need a ride?"
The few people holding flashlights exchanged baffled looks.
What the hell, were you a night owl? How could you see so clearly?
There wasn't a single streetlight nearby, yet you'd stopped so casually, opened the door, and called out to them. You'd managed to check off all three ways to get yourself killed while traveling through the wilderness at night.
Even if there were no people around, weren't you afraid a big gray wolf might suddenly leap out?
"What a coincidence!"
Diana switched off the tactical flashlight in her hand and climbed aboard first, without the slightest hesitation.
She'd originally planned to surprise Li Bai, but she hadn't expected her boyfriend to
