The cunning Qingyao Demoness rarely got the better of the straightforward, guileless Little Demoness Hong Li. Evil never triumphed over good—that was how it went.
Fortunately, the Duplex Apartment had soundproofing under the floors, and the double-glazed windows and walls did a good job of blocking noise. Otherwise, Qingyao Demoness's scream would have stirred up at least half the building.

She'd eat nothing but carp all month: braised, stewed, fried, smoked, grilled. She'd even use carp to make salted fish.
She'd pickle a hundred carp and hang them up like kites.
