Shen Tang grabbed a thug by the neck with one hand, dragged him out of the tavern, and tossed him into the pile of thugs like a piece of trash.
"Good!"
"Our heroes!"
"Well done, heroes!"
As soon as the words rang out,
the crowd burst into thunderous applause.
Zhai Le seemed used to this sort of thing. His smiling, peach-blossom eyes brimmed with pride and smugness. He cupped his fists toward the applauding crowd and said with a beaming smile, "You're too kind, folks. Thank you, everyone. It's only right for us to uphold justice and help the oppressed..."
Watching the Black-clothed Youth spread his feathers like an excited peacock, Shen Tang stared at his bustle-enhanced backside for three seconds.
In the end, she followed her heart and gave him a kick.
Zhai Le wasn't a pushover, either. As if he had eyes in the back of his head, he nimbly dodged and clapped both hands over his nearly victimized rear. "Brother Shen, why did you sneak up and kick me?"
Shen Tang regretfully lowered her foot.
"Let's not forget, we still have serious business to take care of."
Zhai Le was a beat slow in remembering what "serious business" meant. "I've seen plenty of thugs who like to extort people. They're guilty of petty crimes, but as for anything truly vile and wicked, I doubt it. They're afraid of getting blood on their hands, too..."
They were guilty, but not enough to deserve death.
Shen Tang scoffed. "Have you questioned them?"
Zhai Le said, "No, but..."
"You haven't even asked, yet you're jumping to conclusions based on experience? What utter nonsense! Silence!"
Zhai Le was cut off so thoroughly that he had no choice but to shut up.
