The eldest son had been Crown Prince for five years, after all. Though his position had never been very secure, it had still nurtured in him the steady bearing of one in power. Now, as he charged forward with his sword, he seemed to have shed all his former timidity, and there was something of Wu Xian in his younger days about him.
Faced with Wu Xian's stern interrogation, the eldest son's expression remained utterly calm. Only a few traces of disappointment surfaced in his eyes, quickly blending into mockery. He raised his free hand. Its palm was smeared with half-dried blood, and on closer inspection, there were strands of hair stuck to it.

Suddenly, a nameless unease welled up in Wu Xian's heart.
The eldest son tossed the sharp sword at his feet and said with utter disappointment, "Patricide? Father King thinks I came here to kill you? I really do want to cut open your chest with my own hands and peel back your flesh to see just what's wrong with your heart, how badly it's skewed!"
He had kept this question bottled up for many years.
In the past, he had feared his father's authority and been too timid by nature to ask. He could only let the words rot in his heart. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, he would wake from a dream so full of grievance that he would bury his face in his pillow and weep until it was soaked through. His Biological Father did not like him; his mother did
