The Fifth Prince had taken his own life last night?
The news drained the faces of the officials present who had ties of blood or interest to the Fifth Young Master. Something exploded in their minds with a deafening boom. Fortunately, a colleague beside one of them reached out to steady him; otherwise, he would surely have lost his composure. "May I ask what exactly happened last night? The Fifth Prince was entrusted by the King with overseeing the state, and was held in the King's favor. He was also known for his benevolence and virtue. How could he possibly have committed such a grave offense?"
Even though everyone present knew what had happened, some questions still had to be asked openly and answered clearly.
The Fifth Young Master had led troops to force his way into the palace, most likely driven to desperation by the abdication edict. With his back against the wall, he had been forced to take a desperate gamble last night. It had all happened so suddenly that he hadn't even had time to mobilize all his forces. At least some of the Fifth Young Master's faction present had known nothing about it.
Now that he was dead, it was too late to say anything.
They had to find a way to distance themselves from this.
And figure out who had set the Fifth Young Master up.
If the ministers looked closely, they would notice that Fourth Young Master seemed somewhat haggard, not as vigorous as usual. He appeared deeply troubled by the question. After a long moment, he sighed and revealed the truth. "What Fifth Brother did was a family scandal... He, he not only led troops to threaten the inner court last night, but also forced the Youngest and his birth mother to
