He stared tensely at Shen Tang's lips.
He was afraid she would give him an answer contrary to his hopes.
Shen Tang knew how important this was to Liao Jia, so naturally she wouldn't keep him in suspense. She was ready to explain everything in detail. But just as she was about to speak, Cui Mi heard that Shen Tang had returned from inspecting the area and came to discuss something with her. He had just stepped through the door when Shen Tang pointed at him with her right hand. "I saw this Jade Pendant on Hou Bai."
Before Cui Mi could make sense of what she meant, a dark figure swept past him. A face full of complicated emotions loomed close. He hurriedly recoiled and raised a hand to stop Liao Jia. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Wait! It wasn't me. You've got the wrong person!"
Liao Jia's emotions came to an abrupt halt.
He studied Cui Mi's face, trying to find a familiar shadow in his features. After a long while, he still felt that the boy's face was somewhere between similar and not at all alike. He looked so ordinary that he could disappear into a crowd. "I haven't even said anything yet. How do you know what I'm about to do? And how can you be so sure I've got the wrong person?"
Cui Mi was willing to answer only the second question.
"You've definitely got
