How could anyone live forever in this world?
Even mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas could not keep the same shape forever. Otherwise, why would scholars sigh over how seas turned into mulberry fields? And mere mortal flesh wanted eternal life? How arrogant and ignorant did someone have to be to entertain such a notion? Dong Dao spat another curse. "They can't even muddle through a mere hundred years, yet they dare covet immortality? And they've created something so harmful?"
If he found out who had dared defy all the world, he, Dong Xingdao, would be the first to let them off the hook. He would peel off their skin and tear them limb from limb!
Some of those present agreed with him; others disagreed.
The thing was indeed harmful, but the ambition was admirable!
If mortals never fought against Heaven, what was there to hope for in this life? Wasn't being an Xinglin Physician all about snatching lives from the King of Hell? There was nothing wrong with trying to break the limits of one's lifespan, was there? They just didn't dare say any of that openly, afraid they might unwittingly touch a nerve.
Dong Dao couldn't swallow his anger.
He said viciously, "If everyone becomes immortal, how many descendants will each person have in a lifetime? And how many descendants will those descendants have? They don't even understand such simple logic. What a bunch of fools!"
