"Lord, Lord Marquis, is he..."
Ji Sun Yin led the troops away. After they had traveled for some distance, someone finally could not hold it in any longer and wore an expression that said he had something to say but did not know how. He wanted to remind Ji Sun Yin, but their relationship with Wei Lou was not good enough for him to be too blunt. Caught between a rock and a hard place, he was fortunate that Ji Sun Yin understood what he meant.
"I know."
"Lord knows? Then why didn't you bring him back?"
A trace of resentment toward Wei Lou suddenly rose in his heart.
After all, their lord, Ji Sun Yin, had truly treated them well. Lord and subjects had shared life-and-death bonds. How could Wei Lou abandon his lord simply because Lord Shen could offer him better treatment? That was far too disloyal.
"All rivers flow into the sea, though they take different routes, they reach the same destination. Tell me, what would I have brought him back for?" Ji Sun Yin smiled openly and lightly. "Lord Shen entered the world for the sake of all under Heaven. You and I entered the world for the sake of all under Heaven as well, and Lord Marquis is doing the same this time. Since that is so, we are still fellow travelers on the same path."
Ji Sun Yin and Wei Lou had never become estranged in heart or principle.
"But—but..." The military officer's heart clenched and his pupils contracted when he heard this. He instinctively turned to look behind him. Seeing that no one was paying attention to them, he immediately flicked out a strand of martial energy with his finger, forming a barrier that blocked sound. "My lord, don't say such frightening things."
