What did he mean by "it'd be even better if she was pregnant"?
Those five simple words instantly ignited Shen Tang's fury.
The woman was already scared out of her wits, her expression dazed and vacant. As they dragged her away, she lost her balance. Unable to break free or run, she could only act on instinct, switching from supporting her lower belly with one hand to cradling her pregnant belly with both. She curled up like a hedgehog.
Unfortunately, she had no spines on her back.
Her defensive posture only pleased the men who had grabbed her.
"Hahahaha—"
"What are you afraid of, little lady? A few of us brothers will make sure to take good care of you on behalf of your husband. Be sure to serve us well. You don't want your husband to get beaten, do you?" The man dragging her by the hair squatted down. The woman was so terrified that her lips had gone pale, and she couldn't utter a word. Her husband had been kicked away, but he crawled back on his hands and feet, tears and snot streaming down his face as he begged the soldiers to show mercy.
Seeing this, their leader waved his hand.
He chuckled. "Heh heh. Take them both."
The men exchanged smiles that said everything without a word.
They'd done this sort of thing before, abusing a woman in front of her male relatives. Using the men as leverage often made the woman give up struggling, which saved them the trouble. And hearing her man's anguished cries, pleas, and curses only made the whole thing more exciting.
The refugees nearby were furious, but dared not speak out.
Anyone who tried to step forward was pulled back by their companions, who feared the trouble would spread to them.
