Qin Li looked coldly at the person who had spoken.
He had always put the greater good first, but now he could no longer hold back. He sprang to his feet, pointed at the other man, and let loose: "Even if Da Yi really does harbor resentment, have you ever wondered why? You petty thieves put on a show of virtue and flattery in public, then resort to vicious schemes behind closed doors! Da Yi merely took leave and didn't come. His words set the crowd abuzz.
The man Qin Li had pointed at was so furious his teeth bared.
"Qin, what the hell are you barking about?"
"You craven, contemptible wretch! Because of a petty man like you, Da Yi lost his sworn brother. How can you still have the face to live?" Qin Li's lips curled into an undisguised, scornful sneer. "Da Yi didn't kill you because he didn't want to dirty his hands!"
The veins at the man's temples bulged and throbbed. His eyes nearly popped from their sockets as he snarled, "Qin, you're nothing but a stray dog with a broken back! If not for Tianhai, you and that brute Zhao Da Yi would still be hiding in some gutter, thieving and banditry! How dare you insult me like this?"
Qin Li put a hand to the sword at his waist and gripped its hilt, looking ready to draw. He sneered, "I keep my lord's kindness in my heart and have never dared forget it for a moment. But you, you ungrateful, shameless wretch—you don't even know the meaning of having nowhere to hide your face!"
Qin Li held himself back, but the other man didn't see it
