"Did I just hear things?"
Gu Chi turned his head and asked Ning Yan, somewhat astonished.
Since his Way of the Scholar could not fight head-on, and eavesdropping on the enemy's inner-voice commands required a relatively safe and calm environment, Gu Chi had not entered the field himself. He and Ning Yan's true body stayed in the temporary battlefield command camp, coordinating with each other. After he successfully deciphered the enemy's battle commands, Ning Yan immediately relayed them to the two frontline combat incarnations, Zixu and Wuyou.
Zixu and Wuyou passed the information to Chu Yao and the others.
Extracting the enemy's commands from a vast sea of inner voices was no easy task. Gu Chi focused intently, not daring to divide his attention. Only when Shen Tang appeared did he spare a little of his mind to look over. That was when Gu Chi heard the three words "Assembly of Gods," and his expression twisted for an instant...
He thought he had suffered a hallucination.
The two had known each other for many years, and Gu Chi had barely ever left Shen Tang's side. He knew exactly whom his lord had met. Besides, Shen Tang was not someone who could keep her mouth shut. If the Assembly of Gods had truly contacted her, there was no way she would not have babbled about it.
While communicating with Zixu and Wuyou about the situation, Ning Yan transmitted Scholar's Qi to Gu Chi to keep him from collapsing before the battle was over. She asked in confusion, "What did you hear?"
Gu Chi asked her, "Does Tu Nan know about the Assembly of Gods?"
Thinking of Ning Yan's late husband, Yan Xingning, it made sense that someone of his talent and reputation would have been invited by the Assembly of Gods.
