"Good. As long as we don't become enemies, the rest doesn't matter."
Hearing Qin Li's answer, Shen Tang didn't press him for details and simply believed him. Qin Li, however, had more to say. "As long as it's handled cleanly."
Shen Tang paused. "Handled cleanly?"
Those six brief words from Qin Li carried a lot of meaning!
"My lord, I'm no more broad-minded than anyone else." Qin Li still wore his gentle, amiable expression, but the words he spoke carried a chill that was hard to melt. "It's true that Lord Wu once showed us kindness, but it's equally true that we later incurred a grudge against him."
The Literary Scholar, clad in a luxurious fox-fur cloak, lifted his eyes to the moon. Its cool light fell across his brows and eyes like a thin veil, revealing a flash of killing intent in his gaze. "We repaid Lord Wu's kindness with all our might. We're even. But shouldn't we settle that grudge just as thoroughly?"
Qin Li turned to look at Shen Tang beside him.
A cold smile curved his lips. "I'll strike just once. If Lord Wu manages to evade it, then we can call the matter settled."
Shen Tang, however, was taken aback.
It wasn't that Qin Li's way of taking revenge was so unusual. It was the aura he had at that moment. The hazy moonlight naturally lent him an extra layer of glamour, and few Literary Scholars were ugly to begin with. Normally, the deeper their cultivation, the more their looks were refined over time. Shen Tang was struck by her own face every time she looked in the mirror, so ordinary good looks could hardly catch her eye.
Qin Li usually didn't, either.
But the aura he had now was strangely familiar.
Strangely...
