Heaven Severing Seven Swords?
Ren Qiushui had always been proud of her peerless inheritance, believing it inferior to no martial art throughout history. Yet when the mysterious man before her mentioned the Heaven Severing Seven Swords in such an offhand tone, she still couldn't help but feel her heart stir.
The Buddha came from the Tathagata, the Dao from Heaven Severing. These eight words were widely known. Though they were exaggerated in places—for instance, the Sambhogakaya cultivation method and the Dream-Into-Reality method of Amitabha Buddha's lineage had nothing to do with the Tathagata, and the Daoist sect had the inheritances of the Three Pure Ones, Yuan Shi, Daode, and Lingbao—they still vividly conveyed, in a certain sense, the standing of Buddha's Palm and the Heaven Severing Seven Swords.
At least up to now, only Buddha and the Daoist Master were publicly acknowledged as having truly transcended and attained the Dao Fruit. Their deeds had become impossible to verify, and they had not appeared in the world for ages, making it hard to believe the claims. But there weren't even rumors of complete transcendence surrounding the other great figures. Compared side by side, the difference was plain.
In the world today, Buddhism flourished, and Buddha's Palm was often spoken of. The Heaven Severing Seven Swords, however, had long been lost, unseen for who knew how many tens of thousands of years. Even so, countless Daoist and unorthodox martial arts still had tangled connections to Heaven Severing. The Eight Desolations Limitless Sword of the Heaven and Earth Sword Sect, for instance, was rumored to have originated from Heaven Severing. Of course, that had always been no more than rumor; there had never been any direct or indirect evidence.
