Moss covered the stone steps, and the narrow path wound into seclusion, twisting and turning seven or eight times. As Sun Wu made his way through the mountains, the Jade Void Palace vanished from sight, and he truly felt as though he could no longer see Mount Lu's true face. A solemn, reverent feeling rose within him.
He did not know how long he had walked, but Sun Wu, still young in years, already felt aching pain in both legs. Just then, his eyes lit up. The simple, ancient Daoist temple he had seen at the foot of the mountain finally appeared at the end of his vision, bathed in golden light and half-hidden among the trees.
After straightening his robes and crown, Sun Wu took a step in that direction. At once, red, azure, black, and white radiance rose from within the Daoist Temple. The Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water around him seemed to boil illusorily, making his skin alternately hot and bright, dry and damp.
It was as if only now the Jade Void Palace was revealing a few traces of an immortal sanctuary's wonders.
After walking for a while, the red, azure, black, and white radiance coiling around the Daoist Temple turned into a vortex and collapsed toward its core, as though returning to chaos and being contained within the Limitless.
With another step, Sun Wu saw the Daoist Temple suddenly grow dim. The surrounding void writhed and warped as if it had developed a spirit of its own. Distances that had never changed were sometimes close enough to touch, and at other times as far away as the ends of the earth.
The illusory collapse seemed to turn into a sheet of thin paper. The paper curled inward, condensed into a single point, and fell behind
