A Chapter's End

Time was short—not nearly enough to buy off every faction and every person. Now that the situation was spiraling out of control and had reached the Capital City, the Azure Sky Game Company's executives had lost their composure. They instinctively turned to the still-composed Empress for advice. "What should we do?"

"This is a matter of great importance. The Capital City won't sit idly by. If they deploy the regular army, we won't be able to stand against them in our current state. So don't cling to wishful thinking. We have to prepare for the worst."

"Everyone else and I will return to the world inside the fragment. You destroy that special device, move the fragment and the related data somewhere safe, then go into hiding and escape. Once things have died down, we won't need large-scale games to gather data anymore. We can quietly build that special device again and begin the descents anew, secretly taking control of the people at the top." The Empress spoke calmly.

She had taken the throne in her childhood and grown up surrounded by ravenous wolves, each eyeing her like a feast. Step by step, she had risen to the ranks of the Great Grandmasters. The dangerous situations she had faced had tempered her into a resilient, level-headed person.

The Azure Sky Game Company executives' expressions shifted again and again. At last, they gritted their teeth and nodded. "All right!"
