After looking through the System Store and Backpack, Chen Yi asked, "What's the Engine for?"
"Master, you can think of an Engine as this world's computer processor. Nowadays, civilizations in this world have already begun using Engines in battle. A civilization with a powerful Engine can often overwhelm one with a weaker Engine, leaving it unable to fight back. Engines can be used to calculate wormholes, control stellar energy, and create spatial barriers. But all of this requires energy to support it."

A police car was out on patrol.

"That Liu Chuang really makes me furious. He actually dared to threaten a police officer," a pretty policewoman said angrily. Her puffed-up cheeks, however, made her look rather cute.
The officer driving beside her consoled her. "Hey, don't take him seriously. I'll protect you." After saying that, he went back to driving attentively.
But the policewoman clearly didn't understand what he meant. "Who needs you to protect me?"
Just then, the radio in the police car crackled to life. The voice sounded extremely urgent. "Car 125, Car 125, Liuyun Airport is under attack. Proceed to provide support immediately. Proceed to provide support immediately."
"Under attack? Who would be so bold? This is Juxia City," the policewoman said.
"Everyone, stay alert. The military has already intervened, and the troops are on their way. Everyone, listen up: evacuate the civilians immediately and protect the people."
The police car carrying the policewoman arrived then. As soon as she got out, she saw bodies everywhere and ruins all around. Qi Lin had never been assigned a mission this dangerous before. She froze on the spot. As she stood there dazed, a laser shot toward her, piercing straight through her heart. With a bewildered look in her eyes, she fell to the ground.
Just then, a man with long silver hair and armor of gold and silver charged toward the laser's source. Only when he got close did he see that it was a Taotie clad in blue-and-white armor from head to toe.
The man was Chen Yi. On his way home, the system had told him that there was intense energy activity here, so he had decided to come see what was going on.
Seeing the Taotie before him wantonly destroying the city and killing civilians, Chen Yi felt fury flare within him. He charged at the Taotie, thrusting the Flowing Light Blade in his hand straight toward its heart.
Though he was furious, he had no confidence in the outcome, so he went for a vital spot right away. But the Taotie, blessed by the God of Death, was no fool. It casually raised a hand and blocked the attack, then aimed its other hand at Chen Yi and fired a laser cannon. Chen Yi couldn't dodge in time and was blasted away.
He quickly got back to his feet. After all, his physical abilities had improved considerably since his genes awakened. With the Bright Silver Armor on top of that, he was practically unharmed. Still, he couldn't help feeling tense.
When he saw the Taotie flying toward him, he charged to meet it. But as they drew close, he dodged to the side, then swung his blade back and slashed the Taotie warrior across the back. Although cultivation was impossible in this world, Chen Yi still had the combat skills from his previous life.
Seeing that it had been wounded, the Taotie quickly pulled away and unleashed a barrage of laser cannon fire. But Chen Yi's movements were elusive. Before long, he had charged back in front of it and thrust his sword toward its heart.
Just when he thought the battle was over, the Taotie kicked him away, then raised its sword and slashed at him. But thanks to the combat experience Chen Yi had gained in life-and-death battles in his previous life, he narrowly dodged the attack.
"When did a being of your strength appear on Planet Earth?" the Taotie asked in confusion.
"Hmph!" Chen Yi didn't answer, merely giving a cold snort. Then his figure suddenly vanished.
"What?" The Taotie panicked.
Suddenly, Chen Yi appeared behind it. One slash took its head off. This was Chen Yi's spatial-jump ability. Unlike Wormhole Technology, his spatial jump worked by changing the position of space itself. In a sense, it was far more powerful than wormholes. Using this ability meant that Chen Yi was finally taking the fight seriously.
Holding the Taotie's head in his hand, Chen Yi said, "So this is the Taotie Civilization that Angel mentioned? Hmph. You dare invade Earth? Then prepare to be destroyed." With that, he crushed the Taotie's head.
Looking at the ruins all around him and the bodies scattered everywhere, Chen Yi felt awful. He had only been in this world for a little over a month, but having witnessed so many partings and deaths, he still held life in the utmost respect.
When he saw the troops beginning to gather around him and the wounded being loaded into ambulances one after another, he silently left.
By the time he got home, it was already night. He began thinking back over his battle with the Taotie that day, his feelings complicated. He knew this was only the Taotie vanguard. Thinking of all the Taotie he would have to face later, Chen Yi felt his heart sink.
He didn't go to sleep. Instead, he went out onto the balcony and began using the Power of Stars to temper his body. His genes were now activated, and his body was much tougher than an ordinary person's, but he still hadn't reached the level of a Divine Body. His main goal now was to temper his body into a Divine Body.
