Linji Island.
This was the only backup island the Eastern Intelligent Island had retreated to.
The Ancient Castle.
It was what Professor Hu Ming had bought to spend his retirement years in.
Unfortunately.
Professor Hu Ming, because of his own research, had been killed by his own creation on Eastern Intelligent Island.
"Home really does feel more comfortable."
Feiran pushed open the heavy castle gates, breathing in the fragrance of the air, stretching her lithe and well-proportioned body.
"Whoosh."
An icy arrow, like lightning, shot sharply in front of Feiran.
Seeing this sudden attack, Ye Yun immediately went on alert, shielding Feiran behind him, staring gravely at the direction the arrow came from.
He saw someone holding a bow, in a drawn stance, the arrow stuck in the ground flying back against the laws of physics, her face utterly cold, wearing the same outfit as Feiran—a black undershirt inside, a very fashionable bellyband outside, long pants that reached her heels, a silver ponytail, and a face full of indifference. Ye Yun's face showed shock.
"This?" He turned to look at Feiran behind him, then back at the Feiran aiming the bow at him.
Then, Ye Yun understood what was going on.
It had to be Feiran's intelligent being substitute, or rather, a professional bodyguard.
"Long time no see, Little Brother. How have you been?"
At that moment, the intelligent being Feiran lowered her bow, forcing a stiff smile onto her cold face.
"You have her memories?"
Ye Yun looked uncertainly at Feiran behind him.
If she had the memories, then it made sense.
"Yes. Father, just in case, implanted my memories into her, and her mission is to guard our home."
Feiran stepped out from behind Ye Yun with relief. Good kid, he already knew to protect his older sister. She patted Ye Yun's shoulder, looking up at the intelligent being Feiran on the second floor, and said, "Long time no see."
"We really haven't seen each other in a long time, but you shouldn't have come back. Neither of you have Father's permission clearance."
The intelligent being Feiran looked at Ye Yun and her own prototype, her face turning cold again.
"No. My access to Linji Island hasn't been revoked, but Qiya's access has. Not only did Qiya's access disappear, but Qiya's intelligent being was also banned from Linji Island. And I suspect Qiya's intelligent being has already had all memories of Qiya deleted."
She looked at the intelligent being identical to herself.
"I don't know about that. What I do know is that the night before last, Qiya's independent logic permissions were unlocked."
The intelligent being Feiran looked at her, then at Ye Yun: "What do you two want to do by coming back this time?"
"I suspect the mastermind behind the intelligent being mutation might be Ye Zhen. And for intelligent beings to gain true freedom, it's closely tied to the Initial Source Code. There's a high chance they'll come to seize it. Considering the castle's firewall and energy system were programmed and designed by Ye Zhen, I'm a bit uneasy. I want to reprogram the defenses."
Feiran looked at her and laid out her thoughts.
"Mm, fine."
A strange light flickered in the intelligent being Feiran's eyes as she agreed to the proposal.
Because she now possessed Feiran's memories, combined with her super-strong computing power, she understood that if the mastermind behind the scenes was Professor Ye.
Wanting to get the Initial Source Code?
Getting past her would definitely be the first hurdle. How to quickly get past her?
Cut off the castle's infinite energy system.
"Did you tidy up my room for me?"
Feeling like he had no presence, Ye Yun looked at the intelligent being Feiran slowly descending from the second floor and said.
"I'm not your nanny."
The intelligent being Feiran shrugged helplessly and said, "Just kidding. I clean inside the castle every day. Outside the castle, you'll have to clean yourselves. My mission is that I can't leave this castle's Great Hall."
"Oh, it's even simulated skin. Old Hu, that cheapskate—cough, cough—Old Hu really is generous, actually giving you simulated skin."
Ye Yun curiously poked the intelligent being Feiran, who had come close, and said in surprise.
That old geezer Old Hu, who was always so frugal with his research, actually spent such a huge cost on an intelligent being like this.
"Scram."
The intelligent being Feiran glared at Ye Yun: "Go sweep the ground outside right now. There are fallen leaves everywhere."
"I'm going to rest first. We'll talk later. I didn't get a good night's sleep last night."
He waved his hand, dragging his luggage toward the second floor.
He hadn't slept well last night; it was time to get some proper rest.
"This kid really needs a beating."
The intelligent being Feiran watched Ye Yun's back as he went upstairs, nudging the real Feiran beside her.
"Yeah, sometimes I really do deserve a beating. Let's start now." Feiran's cold, proud face carried a faint smile as she shook her head.
"Aren't you going to rest for a while?"
In the blink of an eye.
Three years passed, silent and unnoticed.
During these three years.
The security committee of the Eastern Intelligent Island, due to the escaped aberrant Intelligent Beings, established an organization specifically to deal with them.
The Intelligence Hunting Bureau, also called the Intelligence Hunting Group.
The Intelligence Hunting Bureau's main goal was to capture escaped Intelligent Beings and target those that had failed safety inspections.
The Intelligent Beings, in turn, called the warriors of the Intelligence Hunting Group "Hunting Dogs."
Intelligent Island.
Inside a bar.
A youth in a dashing suit, eyes clear as bright pearls, skin as white as milk, hair slicked back in a pompadour, and a handsome face, swirled a glass of red wine gently, his gaze fixed on the woman playing the drums. The red wine in his glass hadn't diminished in the slightest.
Just then.
A youth in a Combat Uniform, with a fit, muscular build and a buzz cut, sat down beside him. He raised a hand toward the distant waiter and said, "A glass of champagne."
"Certainly, sir."
The waiter received Zhuo Ran's request, bowed with a smile, and carried an empty tray off to fetch his champagne.
Ye Yun heard the stranger's words, his gaze still lingering on Ye Yun, the red wine glass in his hand slowly swirling.
The spot he occupied was a public table, open for anyone to sit at.
"Beep beep."
Ye Yun's communicator sounded. He glanced down and connected it to his Bluetooth earpiece.
Feiran's voice came through the earpiece.
"You left Linji Island?"
"Mm."
Ye Yun spoke softly, his thin lips parting slightly: "It was too stuffy at home, so I came out for a walk."
"Alright, stay safe."
Feiran said, then hung up.
After ending the call, Ye Yun set down his wine glass and patted Zhuo Ran, who was in the Combat Uniform.
"Is something the matter?"
Zhuo Ran felt someone tap his shoulder and turned to see it was the youth sitting at the same table, curious.
"There."
Ye Yun pointed toward a corner, where Han Feng, like some old man, was also staring at Ye Yun.
Following the direction the stranger pointed, Zhuo Ran saw a bearded uncle and looked completely baffled.
Clearly.
This rookie, fresh out of police academy and newly joined the Intelligence Hunting Bureau, didn't recognize that man yet.
"Han Feng." Seeing the confusion on Zhuo Ran's face, Ye Yun smiled and leaned in to whisper.
"Han Feng? Who's Han Feng... the head of Duyizhi, Han Feng?"
Zhuo Ran, who had originally come to capture Ye Yun for a safety inspection, had dismissed the words of this youth even more handsome than Qi Yang. But when he realized the meaning behind that name, he snapped to attention.
Hearing this, he gave a slight nod, confirming Zhuo Ran's guess.
"Who are you?"
Immediately after, wariness crept onto Zhuo Ran's face, and he quickly distanced himself from the youth.
Someone who knew things even he didn't.
This was definitely no ordinary person.
"Ye Yun."
He didn't bother hiding his true identity. After all, if the Intelligence Hunting Bureau wanted to, they could easily investigate it. There was no need to conceal it.
"Ye Yun?"
Hearing this, Zhuo Ran was baffled. Could this guy know he was here to catch Ye Yun and be using a fake name to mess with him?
But then he remembered what Xiang Mao had said three years ago about Professor Hu Ming's children, and he immediately realized his mistake.
Though the pronunciation was similar, this one was "Ye" as in night, and "Yun" as in cloud.
Thinking of Han Feng, Zhuo Ran stopped bullshitting, stood up, and walked toward a secluded spot.
"Hey, Brother Yang, what are you up to?"
Zhuo Ran didn't act rashly. Instead, he found a secluded place, secretly snapped a photo of Han Feng, and called Qi Yang, the head of Intelligence Hunting Bureau Group C.
"Young Master, what is it now? I just got off work!"
Qi Yang's exasperated voice came through the phone.
Because every time Zhuo Ran called him, it was never good news.
"Brother Yang, I just sent you a photo. Confirm if it's the fugitive Intelligent Being Han Feng, the Big Shot of Duyizhi."
Zhuo Ran glanced at Han Feng, who was still focused on Ye Yun, and lowered his voice into the communicator.
"Han Feng? Duyizhi?"
Qi Yang, who had been sounding lazy a moment ago, perked up immediately at Zhuo Ran's words.
Han Feng.
That was the Big Shot of Duyizhi, responsible for killing who knows how many of their brothers.
He was also one of the most troublesome figures for the Intelligence Hunting Group.
"Yes, it's him, that's Han Feng." Once Qi Yang clearly saw the photo Zhuo Ran had sent him, he immediately confirmed the identity.
Even if it was just a side profile, he could still recognize him.
Saying he'd know him even if he were reduced to ashes would be bragging, but a side profile was no problem at all.
"Good one, it really is that grandson."
With Qi Yang's confirmation, Zhuo Ran's eyes blazed with fiery anger, and he spoke through gritted teeth.
Though he didn't know Han Feng personally, he couldn't forget the damage Han Feng had done to the Intelligence Hunting Group.
Even as a reserve member of the Intelligence Hunting Group, he had learned of the blood debts Duyizhi owed them.
"Kid, where are you? I'm telling you, don't do anything reckless. Han Feng isn't easy to deal with. If he shows up, Sharp Eye and Crazy Fist are definitely by his side."
