Hearing the voice over the phone, Ye Xingchen's face bloomed with delight. He had just been worrying that Ye Fan would not come looking for him anymore!
He had not expected the fellow to have already run into trouble. Ye Xingchen coughed, then pretended to be thoroughly impatient, tapping the table as he teased:
"This is a little tricky, but given our relationship, I'll do you this favor. How's that for being a good friend?"
Hearing this over the phone, Ye Fan was delighted. He thought that although he had only known Ye Xingchen for a few days, the man was a true buddy after all. He immediately replied:
"Don't you worry. As long as we pull the wool over everyone's eyes, I'll treat you to a full-service massage afterward!"
As the disconnected tone beeped over the phone, Ye Fan slowly rose to his feet.
He turned to glance out the window of the taxi, a trace of a smile appearing on his face.
Three days later, at the foot of Mount Tai,
Ye Xingchen slowly arrived in his Mercedes-Benz. Glancing at the classmates who had been waiting there since early on, he smiled faintly.
He looked back at Ye Fan, who was wearing sunglasses, and could not help teasing him:
"Don't say I'm not a good friend. I withdrew this million in cash especially for you. Throw it around however you like later, but once you're done, you have to get every bit of it back for me. I've practically bankrupted myself to help you."
Sitting in the back seat, Ye Fan looked excited at these words. His eyes brimmed with excitement as he looked at Ye Xingchen, who was helping him so much.
He rolled down the window to check what was happening outside and hurriedly nodded.
