As soon as he finished speaking, the little insect in his hand sprouted wings and flew toward Ye Xingchen and the two women. Standing behind them, the Miaojiang Grandmaster smiled at the sight and was about to turn around and wait for his prey to come to him.
But he saw his insect drop straight to the ground like a kite with its string cut. Stunned by the unbelievable sight, he looked up and found Ye Xingchen staring fixedly at him.
A short while later, in one of the school's restrooms,
The Miaojiang Grandmaster knelt on the floor, looking at Ye Xingchen before him as though he had seen a devil, not daring to raise his head. Frightened, he shook his head repeatedly and begged:
"Please spare me! I'll never dare do it again! If I'd known you were such an expert, I wouldn't have dared oppose you even with a hundred times the courage!"
A faint smile appeared on Ye Xingchen's face as he watched the man begging for mercy. He glanced at the slip of paper in his hand, then asked teasingly:
"Where is Sun Tianhai? Tell me."
The stammering Miaojiang Grandmaster shook his head. Before coming, he had already sent Sun Tianhai a message; he reckoned the man had long since fled without a trace. After all, in their line of work, they could not betray their employer even if their mission failed.
Looking thoughtful, he gazed at Ye Xingchen and pleaded:
"Please try to understand. People in our line of work must never betray their employers. Even if a mission fails, it's just a failed mission!"
"We each serve our own master. I've already told you everything I can about this matter. If you really refuse to let me go, then do as you please.
